How We Make This Possible
While Fairaction is a registered charity, we’ve taken a strategic, long-term approach to financial sustainability. Rather than relying solely on donations, we’ve invested significantly in research and development to build frameworks that deliver lasting, community-led water solutions.
This commitment has established Fairaction as a credible research institute—one that actively collaborates with leading academic institutions like the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). As an industry partner, we work alongside UTS to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world solutions. Universities like UTS represent the gold standard in rigorous, evidence-based research, and our partnership ensures our work is grounded in innovation, relevance, and impact.
Building on this foundation, we offer research services on a fee-for-service basis to organisations in the water sector seeking scalable, sustainable solutions to the global water crisis. One of our major research partners is Clean Water for All Pty Ltd (CWFA)—an Australian R&D organisation that has invested over $6 million in the past three years to advance sustainable water innovation. Income from this partnership fully funds our operations, fundraising, governance, and all overhead costs.
As a result, we are able to maintain the Fairaction 100% Model—where 100% of public donations are directed solely to the implementation of sustainable water projects.
